Los Altos NOISE

Fighter jets, business alarms and the homeless….
Los Altos’ weekend gets noisy

On Saturday night at approximately 9:15 pm F-18 fighter jets made four passes over Los Altos on the way to landing at the Long Beach Airport. The  Los Altos Park  sound monitor ( Stearns and Montair streets) registered the unusual night landing sound at 113 dB. The decibels peaked at 115 at the last sound monitor before the airport.

Long Beach Airport has no control over military flights. Military flights are not counted as part of the Long Beach Noise Ordinance “noise bucket”.

The Long Beach Airport provides a web-based sound monitoring system at this link:  http://webtrak.bksv.com/lgb .

On Sunday morning at approximately 6:35 am, Daggett Street and Abbeyfield residents were woken by the Taco Beach burglar alarm. Two Long Beach Police Department patrol cars responded to the alarm and found that the business was secure.

Daggett residents who ventured out to see what the blaring early alarm noise and loud screaming was all about witnessed two homeless people on the corner of  Daggett and Bellflower loudly yelling at each other as the alarm sounded.
