Getting around on LB Marathon Day

How to cope with the...
LOCAL TRAFFIC IMPACTS on SUNDAY due to Long Beach Marathon street closures

Sunday's Long Beach Marathon will again bring huge traffic impacts to the local 4th District's streets.  Aside from the traffic impacts to the major streets, residential streets also are expected to see an increase in traffic as frustrated motorist try to use side-streets to get around the traffic-thus cutting through neighborhoods-often at accelerated speeds.

Long-time 4th District Residents are aware the best way to get across the "marathon divide" depends on where you live and where you need to go.

Ideally for the Los Altos Center Adjacent Neighborhoods the best route to go get to any location east or west is to take the 405 Freeway North or South.

For the Los Altos neighborhoods south of Atherton heading East and then North or again taking the 405 Freeway is easiest to get to any location. Going any other direction accept East will result in hitting street closures.

For the Recreation Park neighborhood it is best to avoid going toward the beach at all as well as toward CSULB.  Going West toward downtown then North to go in any direction will be less frustrating.
