Mayoral candidate Robert Garcia speaks at Los Altos "meet and greet" at Hoff's Hut
About fifteen Los Altos residents met with mayoral candidate Councilman Robert Garcia at the Los Altos Hoff's Hut on Monday evening March 25th.

Garcia announced the meeting in an email that listed several "meet and greets" across the city.

Topics at the Los Altos meeting included the Long Beach Port, pension reform, business friendliness, and balanced budgets.

Garcia also discussed his commitment to Long Beach and his life and immigrant roots.

The current city-wide illegal campaign sign controversy over the Garcia for Mayor signs was not brought up.

Today the Long Beach Register continued the days-long reporting on the Garcia controversy  CLICK ON: LB REGISTER

LBReport and the LB4D blog have also had postings about the illegal signs.

Ilegal "Tagging" of Los Altos campaign style

Another round of illegal campaigning tagging...
Illegal campaign signs from Garcia's campaign blanket East Long Beach and whole city

Just a week after the Los Altos Center and the Bellflower Blvd. businesses were tagged with gang-style writing- another blight has hit the area- illegal campaign signs.

Last week another Orange County connected group plastered Long Beach with more illegal signs-this time supporting Robert Garcia for Long Beach mayor. ..

Gang style graffiti hits Los Altos

Gang style tagging all over Los Altos Center

Late Sunday March 9th, 2014 gang style  tagging was sprayed

all over Los Altos Center and Corridor business properties and public properties along Bellflower Blvd.

As of  Monday afternoon at this posting the graffiti  was still visible.

The tagging featured the initials ASTK and featuring two monikers "Acer" and "Slab". Similar tagging has been reported to the LB4D Blog at the Traffic Circle.

The fact that such a large influx of tagging has not been seen for years in the Los Altos neighborhoods and the slow response of the city to clean it up has given some local residents cause for concern, especially in the wake of the large number of campaign mailers that have touted a reduction in crime.

More medical for Los Altos Center

More Los Altos Center retail going to medical

The Los Altos Center North will be getting a new dental office. Part of the former Whittaker Music's second space, the new Long Beach Smiles Dentistry will be opening in the space soon next to the new optometrist office.

Medical and banking have taken over numerous retail spaces in the Los Altos Center.

The two medical offices join the Memorial Hospital walk-in clinic across the street in the Los Altos Center South that replaced the old Borders Bookstore. The former Big Boys turned Blockbuster building on Bellflower is now a Citibank.

Reportedly, the Los Altos Bellflower Corridor Wendy's and Sherman Williams pant store ( site of a former bank) will soon be gone to make way for a Walgreen's Pharmacy.
