New Los Altos restaurant

Pieology to open at Los Altos Center
  
The former Baja Fresh space at the Los Altos Center South will become  Long Beach's first Pieology Pizza restaurant.  

The franchise chain has over 30 Southern California locations and features custom made-to-order "hand crafted" pizza's cooked in an open-flame oven and promised in around five minutes from ordering.

The chain does not currently offer alcohol.

According to a sign posted on the former Baja Fresh, it closed on April 1st after losing it's lease.



Pieology will face a tough pizza market with long time local family favorite Ecco's Pizza across Bellflower, CSULB student favorite Deli News across Stearns and Toppings Custom Pizza at the Traffic Circle Center.

Filming at Lazy Acres

Filming at Lazy Acres to take place on Monday May 18

Councilman Daryl Supernaw's office announced in this week's 4th District newsletter that on Monday May 18th a film crew is scheduled to be  filming at Lazy Acres Market in the Los Altos Center from 6 am until Noon.  The store will remain open to customers during the film shoot.

Councilman Supernaw's office is now issuing the newsletter updates for residents of the 4th District weekly.

Sheriffs stop suspect at Los Altos Center

LA County Sheriff stop at Los Altos Center ties up traffic

Los Angeles County Sheriff's pursued a  driver who was erroneously reported to have brandished a gun.

At approximately 5:00 pm Wednesday May 13th, over a dozen L.A. County Sheriff units stopped the suspect at the entrance to  the parking lot of  the South Los Altos Center next to Pick-Up Sticks 
(the red car in the photo above).

With an L.A. County helicopter overhead, North bound Bellflower Blvd. was closed off and traffic was diverted into the Los Altos Center at Britton/Abbeyfield  by assisting CSULB and Long Beach Police units causing a traffic back-up to Atherton Street.

No weapon was found  in the search of the suspect vehicle by the Sheriff's, and the driver was released at about 5:30 pm.
