Los Altos: Signs of the Times

Los Altos: Signs of the Times

Annoyance:

Even with numerous parking lots in the area, neighbors on Abbeyfield Street are still dealing with parking problems from the Los Altos Taco Beach.  If the problem continues- one option is a preferred parking district. With a parking district, visitors who park in the district without a visitor pass or resident sticker will be ticketed.

Economy:

Prime retail space at the Los Altos Center South is still being occupied by the displaced Crown Books “Liquidation” Store. The store moved from downtown to the former Borders Space- then across the parking lot when the huge Borders retail was turned into medical offices.

One of the Los Altos neighborhood's
many mattress stores is being remodeled into a medical home mobility store. It received its sign last week.

Longevity:

Los Altos landmark-Umberto’s Clothing celebrates 50 years in Long Beach with a 50th Anniversary sale.

 Summer:

The Los Altos Hof’s Hut (one of the two remaining Long Beach Hof’s ) celebrates summer with summer peaches on its seasonal menu

Why were the LB Fire and LB Police at Abbeyfield and Bellflower on Monday night outside of Taco Beach?

Several units of the Long Beach Fire and Police Departments responded to a 911 call on Monday July 15, 2013 to the bus stop in front of Taco Beach.

A women sitting on the bus bench waiting for a bus outside of Taco Beach was not feeling well and she called 911.

Paramedics, fire department units and the Long Beach Police all responded to the women's 911 call. Some of the fire units parked in the Taco Beach parking lot so they would not block the streets.

The incident had nothing to do with Taco Beach.

New Los Altos Center stores

Los Altos CAN
 Los Altos Center Adjacent Neighborhoods

Mattress and music gone…medical in!
New brown paint for medical supply store
One of Los Altos’ many mattress stores is gone and being replaced by a medical supply store. According to neighboring businesses and workers on site, the former mattress store between the Los Altos Hoff’s Hut and the Copyco store is being converted into a medical supply store (…think wheel chairs and crutches).

Meanwhile, across Bellflower Blvd., half the former Whittaker music space next to Chronic Taco (not their former space now the Los Altos Trader Joes) will become another Los Altos Center optometrist office (not to be be confused with the former optometrist, which is now a Starbucks).
Former Whittaker music space being divided

The other half of the Whittaker space and the space next store to it are not yet leased.

ALSO...the new Deli News owners have now opened on Saturdays and added new chairs and tables- adding seating.
