Getting around on LB Marathon Day

How to cope with the...
LOCAL TRAFFIC IMPACTS on SUNDAY due to Long Beach Marathon street closures

Sunday's Long Beach Marathon will again bring huge traffic impacts to the local 4th District's streets.  Aside from the traffic impacts to the major streets, residential streets also are expected to see an increase in traffic as frustrated motorist try to use side-streets to get around the traffic-thus cutting through neighborhoods-often at accelerated speeds.

Long-time 4th District Residents are aware the best way to get across the "marathon divide" depends on where you live and where you need to go.

Ideally for the Los Altos Center Adjacent Neighborhoods the best route to go get to any location east or west is to take the 405 Freeway North or South.

For the Los Altos neighborhoods south of Atherton heading East and then North or again taking the 405 Freeway is easiest to get to any location. Going any other direction accept East will result in hitting street closures.

For the Recreation Park neighborhood it is best to avoid going toward the beach at all as well as toward CSULB.  Going West toward downtown then North to go in any direction will be less frustrating.

EAST LONG BEACH CLOSURES

Palo Verde (South) from Atherton to Anaheim  5:00 am until 12:00 PM
Atherton (West)  from Clark to Bellflower Blvd 5:00 am 12:00 PM
Atherton (Both directions) from Bellflower Blvd to Palo Verde 5:00 am 12:15 PM
Clark (North) from Atherton to Anaheim 5:00 am 12:30 PM
Anaheim (Both directions) from PCH to Clark 5:00 am 12:30 PM

Adoption opportunity!

Fussy needs a home!

A neighbor on the 5400 block of Daggett Street has a Cat Adoption Opportunity for Fussy.

Here is a description of Fussy that her current foster human posted:

Fussy is a smart, affectionate and playful cat, once feral, but who is now ready to have her own humans. While she would be shy for a while in new surroundings, once she got used to a new home, you would probably never know that she once lived on the streets as a feral cat. She currently lives in the Long Beach, CA area, and her foster humans really want her to find a home close by with nice people who will let them keep in touch — which is a good thing, because they will be happy to kitty sit if it is ever needed. Fussy is about a year old, has impeccable litter box habits and is up to date on vaccinations. She’s used to being around other cats, and is very teachable. She would do best in a calm home with at least one person around much of the time. If you know of anyone who fits this description, let me know and my human will pass the information along!
