Going, Going, GONE!!

SCE crews trim landmark tree
Hundred foot Abbyfield Pine Tree Landmark removed

Over the last two days the 100 foot landmark pine tree that towered over the Bellflower entrance to Abbeyfield was removed by two tree crews.

The process started when SCE hired crews trimmed the rear branches that extended over its utility lines at the back of the property at 5482 Abbeyfield Street on Thursday December 19th.

The landmark tree which for years appeared to lean precariously over the rear parking lot of the Taco Beach property  at the corner of Abbeyfield and Bellflower, now was lopsided in two directions. The property management company that maintains the Abbeyfield property hired a tree crew to finish the job that SCE started.

Teen arrested for assault at Los Altos Center

Compton juvenile arrested for battery at

North Los Altos Center

The Monday December 16th police activity at the corner of Abbeyfield and Bellflower outside of Taco Beach was related to an arrest for an assault in the North Los Altos Center (Target -Trader Joes center).

Just before 7 pm on Monday night a male teen was asked to leave one of the center's retail stores numerous times by an employee after the teen was seen soliciting customers inside the store.

When the teen entered the store again and when the employee again asked him to leave, the teen allegedly assaulted the employee and fled.

Witnesses stated that the suspected teen fled with two other teens southward on Bellflower.

Long Beach Police responded and detained three teens at the corner of Abbeyfield and Bellflower (outside of Taco Beach) that matched the witnesses descriptions.

One of the teens, a 16 year old male from Compton, was arrested and booked for battery.
